Mawlānā Adnān Amad Attari Madani

Someone once asked the renowned Companion Sayyidunā Imrān b. uayn رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا the following question, “If a man gives his wife three divorces in one sitting, will his wife become forbidden upon him?”

He رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ replied, “The one who issues three divorces in a single sitting is a sinner, and his wife has become forbidden upon him.”

The man then posed the same question to the prominent Companion Sayyidunā Abū Mūsā al-Asharī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, intending to find fault with Sayyidunā Imrān b. uayn رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا, but not only did Sayyidunā Abū Mūsā al-Asharī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ reaffirm his answer, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ also supplicated for him , “O Allah Almighty, place many men like Abū Nujayd (Sayyidunā Imrān b. uayn رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا) among us.”[1]

Dear Islamic brothers, Sayyidunā Abū Nujayd Imrān b. uayn رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا became a Muslim in the year 7AH.[2] According to the correct view, his father also accepted Islam. He رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ participated in many battles.[3] During the Conquest of Makkah, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ entered Makkah with the banner of the Khuzāah tribe in his hand.[4]  He رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ also accompanied the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم during the expeditions of unayn and āˈif.[5]

Although he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ lived among his tribe, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ would visit al-Madinah al-Munawwarah often,[6]  and ask the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم questions. Once, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ asked about the person who offers prayer while seated, so the noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied, “The one who offers prayer standing is superior, and the one who offers prayer while seated, his reward is half of the one who offers it while standing, and the one who offers prayer while lying down, his reward is half of the one who offers it while sitting.”[7]
